How Many Ants
Published in Unknown Binding by Bt Bound (October, 2001)
Author: Larry Dane Brimner
Average review score:

Pure Fun!
Brimner's book is pure fun and will have kids counting by ones and tens in no time at all. On our school district's list of recommended "100s" books, kids in my classroom cluster together like ants to count the little critters on each page. We've had so much fun with this title that I don't understand the Horn Book comments above, although it may be that they have never been a classroom teacher or simply lack a fundamental understanding of children.

The Insiders' Guide to Madison--1st Edition

Fits like a glove
This book really helped me. I have never been to Madison, and I even know how it was like to be there. But this book really was a helper on the planning of my trip. It explores the good and bad side of the city, including festivities, museums, shopping and maps.

The Invisible Dog
Published in Hardcover by Crown Pub (April, 1993)
Authors: Dick King-Smith and Roger Roth
Average review score:

A Great Dog
This book is about a girl named Janie who finds a collar that belonged to her Great Dane, Rupert, who died when she was younger.
She carries it with her down the street. Mrs. Garrow, one of her neighbors, sees her and makes believe that she is petting a dog and gives Janie compliments on it. So Janie names her invisible harlequin Great Dane, Henry. She takes him everywhere she goes except school.
When her birthday comes her parents surprise her and take her to a dog show. She hopes the Harlequin Great Dane will win.
Read the book to find out who wins the show, what Mrs. Garrow finds in the teacup and how Janie's dream of owning a Great Dane comes true.
If you enjoy books that you can't put down, you'll love this one. I really love books about dogs so that is why I would recommend it to others who love dog stories.

Jebediah Dane and the Curse of the Sun Kings
Published in Hardcover by Hamburg Press (January, 2001)
Author: Mark M. Newell
Average review score:

High adventure the way it used to be!
Author Matt Newell set out to pay homage to the great 19th century adventure writers when he penned the first of this series of adventure novels set in the 1870s and built around Jebediah dane, an ex-Confederate officer and archaeologist. He takes the reader from the afermath of the Civil War in the South through an amazing journey in the Andes where Confederate renegades plan to revive the War against the North. A rich list of characters race through a series of 'high' adventures culminating in a battle between the US Federal Government and the Rebels in a valley high in the Andes. Not content with this amazing feat, Newell then reveals the true enemy, an underground group of Inca survivors whose machinations surround Dane from the beginning of the novel. The final chapter is true high adventure as Newell's lead characters escape a hidden Inca City high in the Andes. Its a great read! Also a great set up for his next novel, set in Augusta Georgia and based on a secret confederate weapon - loved it!

Like Mother, Like Daughter
The story is based around a teenage girl, Leslie, who absoulutly doesn't want to be like her mother when she grows up. But as the story unfolds, Leslie realizes how much like her mother she really is.

Man from Wyoming
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Leisure Books (November, 2001)
Author: Dane Coolidge
Average review score:

A Classic Read
Dane Coolidge's writing was masterful in it's depiction of the Old West. This is no stale cliche riddled story about gunslingers or a land war that takes place in the literary equivelent of one of those generic false-fronts and soundstage towns in bad B-Western films. Coolidge's writing brings the Wyoming of this period to life in all of it's detail, big and small, the beauty and the grit and grime.

Merry Christmas Old Armadillo
Published in School & Library Binding by Boyds Mills Pr (October, 1995)
Authors: Larry Dane Brimner and Dominic Catalano
Average review score:

...destined to be a Christmas Classic.
You can forget How The Grinch Stole Christmas and The Polar Express. Merry Christmas, Old Armadillo is destined to be a Christmas Classic. With warmth, instead of the Grinch's nastiness, Brimner has concocted a tale that grips the young listeners in our house on each re-telling. Its message, though subtle, reminds us not to forgot our old friends--perhaps those grandparents and great grandparents exiled to Sun City. A winner to be shared no matter the season.
